Weekend Closures of East Street Between Wooster Street and Forbes Avenue in New Haven to Begin Friday, April 30, 2010
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that East Street between Wooster Street and Forbes Avenue in New Haven will be closed on weekends from Friday, April 30 to Monday, May 24 and the weekend beginning Friday, June 4 to Monday, June 7, 2010.
Work will occur between the hours of 8 PM on Friday and continue to 6 AM on Monday.  No work will occur Memorial Day weekend May 28 to May 31, 2010.
Signs will be posted to help guide motorists through the detour.  All work will occur weather permitting and will be rescheduled as necessary. These closures are necessary to facilitate the installation of a sanitary sewer.
The work is part of DOT Project No. 92-618 known as Contract B1 and is part of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing (NHHC) Corridor Improvement Program.  The project consists of the construction of the new Q-Bridge main span foundations and I-95 NB approach structure. The construction will be accomplished ‘off-line’ from I-95 thereby minimizing impacts to interstate traffic.  The project is in advance of the construction of the new Pearl Harbor Memorial (Q) Bridge and the I-95/I-91/Route 34 Interchange. The project is part of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing Corridor Improvement Program.
