Traffic Shift of I-95 Northbound between the Howard Avenue Bridge and Exit 46 (Long Wharf Drive) in New Haven scheduled to occur beginning Monday, July 19, 2010
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a traffic shift on I-95 Northbound between the Howard Avenue Bridge and Exit 46 (Long Wharf Drive) in New Haven is scheduled to occur beginning Monday, July 19, 2010.
The existing lanes on I-95 Northbound will be shifted to the right to facilitate construction of the bridge carrying I-95 over Long Wharf Drive Extension and will be in effect for approximately six months.  All work will occur weather permitting and will be rescheduled if necessary.
The work in Contract E2 is part of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing (NHHC) Corridor Improvement Program and includes the construction of a new ramp (Route 34 Flyover Bridge) from I-95 NB to Route 34 WB at Exit 47 in New Haven. The project also includes reconstruction of the Route 34 WB Bridge over Brewery Street, relocation of the Exit 46 ramps at Long Wharf and Sargent Drives and the construction of a second lane from I-91 SB to I-95 SB.  The project is in advance of the construction of the new Pearl Harbor Memorial (Q) Bridge and the I-95/I-91/Route 34 Interchange.
