Sidewalk Closure on Monroe Street in South Norwalk at Metro-North RR Bridge to Begin on or About March 30, 2010

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the west side sidewalk under the Metro-North Railroad Bridge on Monroe Street in South Norwalk will be closed to construct a portion of the railroad bridge.

The West Sidewalk will be closed until further notice in order to construct the bridge foundation for Tracks 4 and 6. During the construction period the east sidewalk will be opened for pedestrian access. Pedestrians will need to follow the posted detour signs during this time.

During this time, commuters will be permitted to access the railroad facilities, parking garage and residences, but no pedestrian traffic will be allowed to use the west sidewalk below the bridge.

Please allow for extra time to reach the train station and board your train. The Connecticut Department of Transportation understands the inconvenience of these closures and will complete this work as quickly as possible.

This work is part of an ongoing project to replace bridges and catenary on the Metro-North New Haven Line between South Norwalk and Stamford.The Connecticut Department of Transportation appreciates your patience as improvements and upgrades occur on the New Haven Rail Line.
