Setting of Structural Steel and Installation of Overhead Sign Truss for the Route 34 Flyover Project in New Haven, CT to Begin Week of February 15, 2010
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that nighttime lane closures and stopping of traffic for 20 minute intervals will affect travel on I-91, I-95 and Route 34 in the upcoming weeks. The project is preparing to install the new bridge girders for the Route 34 flyover bridge and a new overhead sign truss spanning I-95 north and southbound.
The 20 minute closures will occur at night between the hours of 12 am and 5 am during the period from Sunday through Thursday. The road must be closed to traffic to allow for the setting of the bridge girders and also installation of the overhead sign truss. Along with the closure of a section of I-95, various I-91 and Route 34 lanes and ramps may also be closed during these operations to allow for the transportation and lifting of the girders and sign truss.
The work is being done in phases and advance notification through press notices, variable message boards and e-alerts will be provided for the routes and directions of travel that will be affected for each phase. All work will occur weather permitting.
Motorists can expect significant delays during the road closures. Please plan ahead and consider alternate routes to get to your destination.
