Route 66 Intersection & Drainage Improvements at Old Mill Road & Boston Road in Middletown
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that access to Old Mill Road from Route 66 in Middletown will be closed to through traffic starting on or about Tuesday, April 20, 2010 and anticipated to reopen June 1, 2010.  Local traffic will only be allowed access to Old Mill Road from Westfield Street.
The roadway is being closed to install a box culvert across Old Mill Road at the intersection with Route 66. A detour route will be posted to direct motorist around this closure.  Another culvert on Boston Road at Route 66 will also require a closure and is scheduled to occur once Old Mill Road is completed.  Advance notice will be provided. 
DETOUR INFO- Rt. 66 westbound traffic to Camp Street to Westfield Street to Old Mill Road and Rt. 66 eastbound traffic can take either Newfield Street (Route 3) or Camp Street to Westfield Street to Old Mill Road.
DOT Project No. 82-287 was awarded to Simscroft-Echo Farms, Inc. of Simsbury, CT on May 26, 2009 at a cost of $4,005,989.00 and is scheduled to be completed in April 2011. The project consists of the widening of Route 66, adding turn lanes for Old Mill Road and Boston Road, drainage and traffic signal upgrades, sewer and water upgrades, pavement milling and resurfacing and the realignment of Boston Road.
