Route 334 (Maple Street) To Be Closed to Traffic Beginning March 15, 2010 For the Rehabilitation of Bridge #01592 carrying Route 334 over the Naugatuck River and Metro-North in the Town of Ansonia

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Route 334, Maple Street, between Olson Drive and Route 115 Main Street will be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic beginning March 15, 2010.  The closure is necessary during the rehabilitation work on the bridge carrying Route 334 over the Naugatuck River and Metro-North Railroad in Ansonia

Motorists and pedestrians will be detoured to Bridge Street to cross over the Naugatuck River and Metro North Railroad line.  Signs are posted to assist travelers around the closure.  The detour will be in effect for the duration of the project. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the Fall of 2011.

DOT Project No. 0002-0114 consists of the replacement of the bridge deck, bridge bearings, and installation of scour protection at the piers.  The contract was awarded to the Baier Construction Co., Inc. on November 3, 2009 at a cost of $3,846,460.00 and is scheduled to be completed in September, 2011.
