The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a project to replace the bridge carrying Route 74 over Grapevine Brook between North River Road and Evergreen Drive in Tolland is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, August 2, 2010.
The project consists of the replacement of the bridge along with upgrades to guide rail and improvements to drainage and signing.   The bridge replacement is being completed in stages and alternating traffic will be in effect using temporary signals.
The first phase of construction activity will be for the clearing and thinning of trees and brush along Route 74 in the vicinity of the bridge and the installation of the temporary signals.  Motorists can expect alternating one way traffic on Route 74 Monday- Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm for this work.  Once the temporary signals are in place, alternating one way traffic will be in place 24/7.
