Project No. 105-203, Repair and Maintenance Facility Renovation and New Bridge Facility, Town of Old Saybrook
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the Department’s Office of Engineering is developing plans for the construction of a project on the site of the existing ConnDOT repair and maintenance facility at 660 Middlesex Turnpike in Old Saybrook.  The purpose of this project is to partially renovate the existing repair and maintenance facility and to relocate bridge personnel from their existing outdated building at 441 Middlesex Turnpike into a new building.  No new personnel or operations will be added to the existing repair and maintenance facility.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with the Department to assist in the project’s development. If there is adequate interest, an informational meeting will be conducted.  At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary.
The project involves limited mechanical and electrical upgrades to the existing repair and maintenance facility along with the construction of a 24,000 square foot single-story steel-framed building with masonry and metal siding.  Site improvements to support the existing and new buildings will also be performed including new pavement and storage yards, and new utility services including city water.  The present schedule indicates that final design plans will be available in September 2010.  The project will be state funded.
Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Scott A. Hill, Manager of State Design, at (860) 594-3272 or by e-mail at Scott.Hill@ct.gov. Please make reference to Project No. 105-203.
