Nighttime and Weekend Closures of Route 135 (North Benson Road) in Fairfield Beginning Monday, October 4, 2010.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Route 135 (North Benson Road) between I-95 north entrance ramp from Route 135 and Route 1 (Post Road) in Fairfield will be closed to traffic at night and during weekends from October 4, 2010 to June 30, 2012.

The night time closures will occur Monday through Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and closures on some weekends may occur from 8:00pm to 6:00 am. The closures are required for the replacement of Bridge No. 01344R that carries the New Haven Rail Line over North Benson Road. Work may be rescheduled due to inclement weather.

The detour routes will be clearly marked to assist motorists around the closure. Pedestrian access will be provided at all times.

Vehicles other than Trucks - use Round Hill Road, Walls Drive and Kinne Drive to access points north and south of the closure including the I-95 northbound on-ramp.

Trucks - access to Route 1 via I-95 exits 21 or 23

The work is part of a project to overhaul the overhead Catenary wire system and replace five bridges on the New Haven Rail Line between Bridgeport and Fairfield. The contract was awarded to Ducci Electrical Contractors of Torrington, CT, in April 2007 and the current schedule has the project completed in June 2012.
