Updated Schedule for Ongoing Bridge Repairs on Route 3, Putnam Bridge in the Towns of Wethersfield and Glastonbury

The Department of Transportation is announcing that the completion date for the structural repairs on the Putnam Bridge is being extended to January 31, 2011. The contractor will continue to close the right lane on Route 3 northbound from approximately 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Sanitary Sewer Realignment at Bradley International Airport

The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Office of Engineering is developing plans for realignment of a sanitary sewer segment in the vicinity of Airport Turnoff Road at Bradley International Airport. The purpose of this project is to replace an existing antiquated section with a more efficient alignment. It is not anticipated that an informational meeting or a formal public hearing will be held for this project due to the limited nature of the proposed work.

Rehabilitation of Taxiway “C” North, Bradley International Airport

The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Office of Engineering is developing plans for rehabilitation of the northern end of Taxiway “C” at Bradley International Airport. The project involves milling and overlaying approximately 6,000 feet of Taxiway “C”.

Notice of Public Information Meeting Concerning the Rehabilitation of the Arrigoni Bridge (Route 66, Middletown/Portland)

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will host a public information meeting concerning the rehabilitation of Bridge No. 00524 (Arrigoni Bridge), which carries Route 66 over Route 9, Connecticut River, P & W Railroad, and local roads in Middletown and Portland. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 208, Middletown City Hall, 245 de Koven Drive, Middletown, CT. Inclement weather date will be Thursday, December 16, 2010.

Pavement Preservation Design Phase Beginning for Projects in the Towns of Canaan, Killingly, New Britain, Farmington, Manchester, Mansfield, Simsbury, Southbury, Woodbury, Wethersfield, Hartford, Windsor Locks and East Windsor

The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Office of Engineering is developing pavement preservation plans for various sections of roadway (projects detailed below). The purpose of these projects is to extend the service life of the existing pavement. It is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that communities share any concerns with us to assist in the development of the projects. It is not anticipated that informational meetings or a formal public hearings will be held for these projects due to the limited nature of the proposed work.

Nighttime Closure of Route 34 Eastbound Ramps to Interstates 91 and 95 Northbound in New Haven Scheduled For Thursday, November 18, 2010

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the Route 34 eastbound ramps to I-91 and I-95 north will be closed for approximately two hours each on Thursday night, 11/18/10, for bridge inspection. Motorists will be rerouted to the I-95 southbound Sargent Drive off ramp (Exit 46) and detour signs will guide motorists back onto to I-91 or I-95 north. The work may be rescheduled due to inclement weather.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a bridge rehabilitation and safety improvement project on Route 8 between Exits 14 (Route 110, Howe Avenue) and Exit 15 (Route 34) at the Commodore Hull Bridge over Housatonic River is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, November 22, 2010.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a Public Information Meeting concerning the rehabilitation of Bridge No. 05868, which carries an I-84 EB Ramp (Flyover) to I-91 NB over I-84/I-91 Ramps and CSO Railroad, in the city of Hartford. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Multi Purpose Room of Union Station, 1 Union Place, Hartford, CT. Inclement weather date will be Wednesday, December 15, 2010.

Scheduled Intermittent Nightly Closures on Route 15 Northbound and Southbound in the Towns of Fairfield and Trumbull for Week of November 8, 2010

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Route 15 will be reduced to a single lane of traffic from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be halted for 10-minute intervals several times between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. to allow for removal of selected trees within the median area. Work will begin at the northern limits of the project near Exit 52 and progress southerly into Fairfield beginning Monday night, November 8, 2010.

Whalley Avenue (Route 63) in the Vicinity of Route 69 to be Realigned to its Original Pre-construction Alignment (1 lane SB and two lanes NB) on Tuesday, November 9, 2010

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Whalley Avenue from Glenview Terrace to Westerleigh Road will be realigned to its pre-construction alignment (one lane SB and two lanes NB) on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that weekend work on I-84 eastbound in the vicinity of Exit 43 to Exit 49 in Hartford is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Friday and continue until 5 a.m. Monday. The Broad Street and Sigourney Street ramps to I-84 east will be closed and I-84 east will be reduced to a single lane of travel during the overnight hours.

Work To Continue Through July 2011 for Structural Steel Repairs and Painting of the Bridge Carrying Pleasant Valley Road (Route 181) over the Farmington River in Barkhamsted

Boston Road at Route 66 in Middletown Reopened to Traffic

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that work for the reconstruction of Route 66 (Washington Street) between Bernie O’Rourke Drive and Plaza Drive in Middletown is nearing completion. All roads have reopened while traffic signal and some landscaping work remains. The project is expected to be substantially completed by the end of November 2010 with only minor work expected in the spring of 2011.

Bridge Rehabilitation Work Continues on Route 190 in the Towns of Enfield and Suffield

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that alternating one way traffic will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and traffic stops up to 15 minutes in duration will occur from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Tuesday, October 19, 2010. This is the first of several traffic stops as work to replace the bridge bearings progresses. Message boards will be posted in advance to alert motorists when the traffic impacts will occur.
