Closure of Evergreen Street in Bristol at Pine Street Scheduled For Monday, March 29, 2010
The Department of Transportation is announcing that Evergreen Street in Bristol is scheduled to be closed at Pine Street on March 29th. Evergreen Street will be converted into a cul-de-sac at this location, accessible from Sycamore Street.  Traffic that formerly used Evergreen Street to access Pine Street should now use Hemlock Street.  Construction signs notifying motorists of the closure will be installed in advance of the closure date.
This permanent road closure is being implemented to facilitate the reconstruction of the intersection of Pine Street and Todd Street and is part of the ongoing Route 72 Relocation project in Bristol and Plainville.
This $40 million project is being performed by Manafort Brothers, Inc. of Plainville, Connecticut under contract with the Department of Transportation.  The anticipated completion date for this project is in November 2010.
