Work at the I-91 Southbound Ramp to I-95 Southbound in New Haven to Begin
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that traffic traveling from I-91 south to I-95 south in New Haven will be shifted to the left to allow for work to begin along the right side of the roadway in the area of the Route 34 interchange.
The work to complete the traffic shift will require the installation of barriers and pavement markings and is scheduled to be completed at night on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 and Wednesday, April 8, 2009, weather permitting.   Traffic will experience lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The construction will result in the expansion of the of the I-91 and I-95 southbound interchange from a single lane ramp to two lanes and is scheduled to be completed by April 2010.
This work is being performed under the Rte. 34 Westbound ‘flyover’ bridge project. The contract was awarded to Walsh Construction Company of Sharon, Massachusetts at a cost of $91,397,352.00 on September 17, 2008 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2011.
