Traffic Shift Scheduled for December 2, 2009 on Route 190 Bridge over the Connecticut River in Enfield and Suffield
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the contractor will be moving traffic to the north side of the Route 190 Bridge over the Connecticut River on December 2, 2009.  The switch is necessary to facilitate the next stage of construction for the rehabilitation and widening of the bridge.
Traffic may be restricted to alternating one way between 7AM and 4PM to accommodate the switch.
It is advised that motorists seek an alternate route.  The Route 140 bridge located 5 miles south between I-91 in East Windsor and Route 159 in Windsor Locks may be used to bypass the construction.
The work is part of a contract that was awarded on February 29, 2008 to the Rotha Contracting Company of Avon, CT for a cost of $10,924,303.00. The project is scheduled to be completed in August of 2010.
