Traffic Shift on I-95 northbound from Exit 45 to Exit 46 (Long Wharf Drive Area) in New Haven Scheduled for Thursday, May 7, 2009
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that work will begin on I-95 Northbound from Exit 45 to Exit 46 in the area of Long Wharf Drive in the City of New Haven.
The construction activities include the installation of new drainage and the widening of the existing roadway for the new off-ramp to Long Wharf Drive (Exit 46).  Traffic on I-95 northbound will be shifted in the area to allow placement of concrete barriers along the work zone.
The contractor is scheduled to place barrier and install pavement markings to realign traffic through the work zone on Thursday, May 7, 2009, weather permitting.
This work is part of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing Corridor Improvement Program (NHHCCIP) Contract E2. Contract E2 involves the construction of the new I-95 NB (Exit 47) to Rte. 34 Westbound ‘flyover’ bridge.
The contract was awarded to Walsh Construction Company of Sharon, Massachusetts at a cost of $ 91,397,352.00 on September 17, 2008 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2011.
Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and to use caution through this and all other construction work zones.
