Traffic Shift of I-95 Southbound between Exit 46 (Sargent Drive) and Exit 45 (Route 10 - Ella Grasso Blvd) in New Haven Is Scheduled

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a traffic shift on I-95 Southbound between Exit 46 (Sargent Drive) and Exit 45 (Route 10 – Ella Grasso Blvd) in New Haven is scheduled for October 7 and 8, 2009, from 9 PM to 6 AM.

The existing lanes on I-95 Southbound will be shifted to the right to facilitate construction of the new Route 34 Flyover Bridge and will be in effect for approximately six months. All work will occur weather permitting and will be rescheduled if necessary.

The work under this contract, known as Contract E2, is part of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing (NHHC) Corridor Improvement Program and includes the construction of a new ramp (Route 34 Flyover Bridge) from I-95 northbound to Route 34 westbound at Exit 47 in New Haven. The project also includes reconstruction of the Route 34 westbound bridge over Brewery Street, relocation of the Exit 46 ramps at Long Wharf and Sargent Drives and the construction of a second lane from I-91 southbound to I-95 southbound.  The project is in advance of the construction of the new Pearl Harbor Memorial (Q) Bridge and the I-95/I-91/Route 34 Interchange.
