Route 8 North and Southbound Travel Lanes to be Restored by the End of December 2009 for Project over the Naugatuck River in the Towns of Harwinton and Litchfield
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that, weather permitting, the removal of the traffic switchover on Bridge No. 00609 and 00610 (Route 8) over Naugatuck River and Railroad is in progress and normal traffic patterns are scheduled to be restored by the end of December 2009.

Traffic Operations:

The removal of the temporary cross over is in progress. Traffic will remain reduced to one lane in both the northbound and southbound direction and lane closures may alternate on a daily basis in order to facilitate the final repairs on the bridge. The reduction in lanes is expected to last through December of 2009.

The project was awarded to MIG Corporation of Acton, Massachusetts on May 27, 2008 at a cost of $8,687,793.00 and is scheduled for completion in May of 2010.  The contract is being administered by the Office of Construction District 4 Thomaston.

The Department anticipates the project will be substantially completed by the end of December 2009.
