Route 15 Between Exits 44 and 46 in Fairfield - Northbound Travel Lanes Being Shifted to the Left For Work on Route 15 Bridge over the Mill River
The Connecticut Department of Transportations is announcing that the travel lanes carrying traffic northbound on Route 15 between Exit 44 (Route 58, Black Rock Turnpike) and Exit 46 (Easton Turnpike) will be temporarily shifted to the left on August 19, 2009, weather permitting.
The traffic shift will place northbound traffic into the reconstructed median to allow the contractor to continue work on the bridge carrying Route 15 over the Mill River.  Northbound and southbound travel lanes will be separated by precast concrete barrier.  Lane widths are reduced in this area.  Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and be alert for slow or stopped traffic in the area.  This stage of construction is expected to be in place until April 2010.
The work is part of a contract that includes restoration of 13 bridges and a complete bridge replacement over the Mill River. The Contract for this work was awarded to O & G Industries, Torrington, CT on May 4, 2009, at a value of $66,586,998.22 and is scheduled for completion by August 2012.
