The Department of Transportation announced today that night time construction to replace the bridge carrying the off ramp from Route 5 and 15 southbound to Brainard Road (Exit 87) is beginning Monday, August 3, 2009, and continuing Tuesday August 4, and Wednesday August 5, 2009.

The contract was awarded to Arborio Corporation Contractors of Cromwell, CT at a cost of $5.1 million and is scheduled to be completed in August 2010.

Lane restrictions will be in effect for both northbound and southbound travel on Route 15 between the hours of 6:00 pm and 6:00 am. Additionally, a well delineated detour will be in effect for the southbound direction (only) between the hours of 10:00 pm and 6:00 am. 

There will be periodic halts to traffic, for up to 10 minutes in duration between midnight and 5:00 am for the installation of Structural Steel.

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and proceed with caution through this and all other construction work zones.
