Replacement of Overhead Sign Supports on Various State Routes to Begin on August 3, 2009

The Connecticut Department of Transportations is announcing the start of construction for replacement of overhead sign supports on I-95, 84, 691, 91, Route 2, 8, 6, 11, and 44 in the Towns of Norwalk, Trumbull, Shelton, Ansonia, Derby, Newtown, Waterbury, Meriden, Middlefield, Rocky hill, West Hartford, Hartford, Bolton and Colchester.

This construction project is one of several transportation infrastructure initiatives being funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The contract awarded to ADF, Industries, Inc. on June 19, 2009, at a value of $4,084,860.00 and is scheduled for completion by July 15, 2011.

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limits and to utilize caution through this and all other construction work zones.

Motorists can expect lane closures as follows:

I-95 Southbound ¾ mile before exit 13

Monday-Friday

I-95 9 am to 3 pm, 6 pm to 6 am

Saturday - Sunday

6 am to 6 am Monday

Route 8 Southbound exit 7, 13, Bluff St. overpass and Northbound exit 13, Bluff St. overpass and ½ mile before exit 19.
