The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of a bridge rehabilitation project for bridge number 0869 on Route 17 over Hubbard Street in the town of Glastonbury, beginning Monday, November 9, 2009.
The project consists of the replacement of the bridge deck and superstructure and the work will be done in two stages.  Route 17 will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted through the median to one side of the bridge. The southbound part of the structure will be replaced during the first stage and the northbound part of the structure replaced in the second stage. Alternating one way traffic may occur on Hubbard Street between the hours of 9 a.m. To 4 p.m. Sidewalks on Hubbard Street will remain open to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project, and special precautions will be taken to ensure their safety.

Special Advisory

Some short term road closures will be required when the bridge beams are removed and when the new beams are placed. These closures are to be approximately 10 minutes in duration. These closures will occur between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

The contract, DOT Project No. 0053-0176, was awarded on October 7, 2009 to Tully Construction Corporation of Southbridge, MA at a cost of $2,082,799.00, and is scheduled to be completed by October 2011.
