Public Information Meeting Regarding the East Bridgeport Rail Yard Improvements Program
The State Department of Transportation will be conducting a public informational meeting for State Project No. 300-0130 concerning the East Bridgeport Rail Yard Improvements Program. The meeting will be held August 13th, 2009 (Thursday) at 7:00pm in the Town’s Council Chambers located at 45 Lyon Terrace in Bridgeport, CT.
The Bridgeport Railroad Yard stores, services and originates six of Metro-North Railroads New Haven main line trains. In anticipation of the fleet expansion, the yard will require an expansion, as well as upgraded catenary structures for existing storage tracks to accommodate the demands of the new trains. The scope of work will be to completely upgrade and construct existing and new track, as well as reorganize storage and parking to more effectively utilize the available property.
The current project schedule indicates that construction is expected to start in early 2010, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and coordination with the Town of Bridgeport.
Plans of the proposed project will be on display for public review starting at 6:30 for the informal session. Plans will also be posted on the Department of Transportation’s and the Town of Bridgeports websites for review prior to the meeting. ConnDOT personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss the project. Anyone interested in requesting information on this project should contact Mr. John D. Hanifin, Project Manager, at telephone number (860) 594-2899. You may send written inquiries to Mr. Jayantha Mather, Transportation Principal Engineer, Department of Transportation, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, P.O. Box 317546, Newington, Connecticut 06131-7546.  Please refer to State Project No. 300-0130 in all correspondence.
The Public Information Meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning this proposed project. Any persons interested in this project are welcome to attend this meeting and discuss the project with ConnDOT personnel.
