Operation and Safety Improvements on Route 83 in Vernon

The Department of Transportation announced today, that beginning April 1, 2009, traffic in the northbound and southbound directions of Route 83 will be impacted from the I-84 overpass to Dobson Rd. in Vernon.

Various lane closures may exist between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the installation of new traffic signal equipment, roadway widening and the installation of raised center islands. Additionally, Exits 64 & 65 from I-84 eastbound will be affected as part of this work.

Work on this $1.9 million project is being performed by Tilcon Connecticut Inc. of New Britain under contract with the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The anticipated completion date of this project is October 23, 2009.

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and to use caution through this and all other construction work zones.
