Nightly lane closures to begin on I-95 Between Exits 45, Ella Grasso Boulevard and 46, Long Wharf Drive in New Haven Beginning Monday, April 13, 2009

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of nightly lane closures on I-95 for the reconstruction of the Howard Avenue Bridge between Exits 45 & 46 in New Haven, beginning April 13, 2009.

The closures are needed to facilitate the removal and replacement of the Howard Avenue Bridge. Motorists may also experience halting of traffic for 10 minute intervals during the demolition and erection phases.  Changeable message boards will be used to alert motorists of traffic conditions.

The work is part of the Howard Avenue Bridge Reconstruction Contract and is adjacent to the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing (NHHC) Corridor Improvement Program.  Additional work includes installation of new median barrier and drainage modifications in the median of I-95. Construction is scheduled to be completed in October 2010.
