Drainage Improvements on US Route 6 at Route 69 in Bristol
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that beginning on Wednesday July 15, 2009, VMS Construction, Co. will detour south bound traffic for approximately two weeks at the intersection of Rt. 6 and 69. The detour is necessary in order to facilitate the installation of box culverts and utility relocations. The work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, but the detour will be in effect 24 hours a day for the approximate 2 weeks.

The contract was awarded to VMS Construction Co. of Vernon CT at a cost of $5,637,363.00 on July 25, 2008 and is scheduled to be completed on August 25, 2010.  

Traffic Detour

Motorists traveling on Route 69 northbound from Route 6 will have no restrictions. 

Motorists traveling on Route 69 (Burlington Ave.) south bound will be detoured in two possible directions:

·         West bound Route 6 traffic will be directed right at Curtis Street, left on North Main Street to Route 69

·         East bound traffic will be directed left on Lewis Street, right on Oakland Street to Route 6 (Farmington Ave.)

Motorists are urged to utilize caution through this and all work zones.
