Daytime Closure of State Street between Lawrence Street and James Street in New Haven for Utility Work beginning Wednesday, November 18, 2009
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the upcoming daily closure of the State Street Bridge over the Mill River between Lawrence Street and James Street in New Haven on November 18 through November 20, 2009.
The bridge will be closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the above noted dates to allow for extensive utility work. A detour will be utilized to redirect traffic around the closed bridge.
Detour signs have been installed to assist motorists around the road closure.
Truck traffic must follow truck detour route which is posted.  Truck Detour: East Street to Grand Avenue to James Street to Lombard Street to Blatchley Avenue.  
Automobile and Pedestrian Detour: East Street to Lombard Street to James Street.
The State Street Bridge over the Mill River will be closing to pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic for a period not to exceed one year and advance notice will be given. The one year closure is yet to be scheduled.
The Contract was awarded to C.J. Fucci Construction Inc. on Mary 2, 2009 at a cost of $5,071,068.05 and scheduled to be completed by May 5, 2011.
