Bridge Maintenance Project Requiring Closure of Simpaug Turnpike Bridge over Metro North Railroad in Redding
The State Department of Transportation announced today that a Bridge Maintenance project will be performed on the Simpaug Turnpike Bridge over Metro North Railroad in Redding.  This project is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, 2009.
This work will require the bridge to be closed between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  All Simpaug Turnpike traffic will follow a posted detour via Topstone Road to Chestnut Woods Road to Marchant Road back to Simpaug Turnpike.  The bridge will not be open for emergency vehicles.  Local emergency responders have been notified.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Therefore, the alternate date for this bridge closure would be Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3, 2009.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
