Bridge Joint Replacement Project on Route 8 To Begin

The Department of Transportation is announcing that construction work is scheduled to begin on April 08, 2009, for the replacement of bridge joints at various locations along Route 8 in the towns of Bridgeport, Trumbull, and Shelton. 

Replacement of the bridge joints requiring lane closures will begin on or about April 20, 2009 after surveys and layout of areas is completed.

Traffic may experience delays as follows:

Route 8 (Northbound and Southbound)

Monday–Friday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. 

Weekends: 6 p.m. Friday Night to 6 a.m. Monday morning.

No Holiday lane closures are allowed for the duration of this Contract.

The project was awarded to New England Road, Inc. of Clinton, Connecticut at a cost of $648,730.00.  The project is expected to be completed in June 2009.
