The Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) is announcing that work for the reconstruction of Howard Avenue over Interstate 95 in New Haven is scheduled to begin the week of July 7, 2008.

The contract was awarded to Brunalli Construction Company on May 20, 2008 at a cost of $14,193,232 and scheduled to be completed by February 2, 2011.

The project consists of replacing the Howard Avenue Bridge over I-95, the installation of modular retaining walls along I-95 north and southbound between Fifth and Sixth Streets; relocation of a sanitary sewer line under I-95 at Hallock Avenue and Fifth Street; and widening the I-95 Northbound and I-95 Southbound shoulders at the overpass.

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and precede with caution through this and all other construction work zones.  This is a work zone safety enforcement zone.
