The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that the Route 136 Bridge over the Norwalk River (Washington Avenue Drawbridge) will be closed to traffic Saturday through early Monday on October 25th through 27th and November 1st through the 3rd, 2008.

Route 136 at the bridge will be closed to traffic beginning at 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning and the Contractor will reopen all lanes to traffic by 5:00 a.m. Monday.  Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists to alternate routes in the area. 

Marine traffic will be provided a minimum of a 40 foot channel for passage.  Normal marine traffic should not be affected.

The work is part of Project Number 102-300 for the Rehabilitation of Bridge # 02295, Route 136 over the Norwalk River (Washington Avenue Draw Bridge).  The contract was awarded to Hartland Building and Restoration Inc. of East Granby, CT, and is scheduled for completion in December 2008.
