Norwalk, ConnecticutThe Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that the Route 136 bridge over the Norwalk River (Washington Avenue Draw Bridge) will be closed to traffic the weekend of September 13 & 14 and October 4 & 5, 2008 from 12:01 a.m. on Saturday thru 4:00 a.m. on Monday.   

Traffic will be reduced to one lane of travel in each direction beginning at 8 p.m. the Friday night prior to full closure and also from 4:00-7:00 a.m. on the Monday morning following the weekend closure. By 7:00 a.m. Monday morning all travel lanes will be open to traffic.

Marine traffic will be provided a minimum of a 40 foot channel for passage.  Normal marine traffic should not be affected.

The work is part of Project Number 102-300 for the Rehabilitation of Bridge # 02295, Route 136 over the Norwalk River (Washington Avenue Draw Bridge).  The contract was awarded to Hartland Building and Restoration Inc. of East Granby, CT, and is scheduled for completion in December 2008.
