Upcoming Weekend Closure for work on Route 136 Bridge over the Norwalk River (Washington Avenue Drawbridge) in the City of Norwalk.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that the Route 136 Bridge over the Norwalk River (Washington Avenue Drawbridge) will be closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic from 2 a.m. Saturday November 22, 2008 until 5:30 a.m. Monday November 24, 2008.

Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists to alternate routes in the area.  Marine traffic will be provided a minimum of a 40 foot channel for passage.  Normal marine traffic should not be affected.

The work is part of Project Number 102-300 for the Rehabilitation of Bridge # 02295, Route 136 over the Norwalk River (Washington Avenue Draw Bridge).  The contract was awarded to Hartland Building and Restoration Inc. of East Granby, CT, and is scheduled for completion in December 2008.
