Traffic Shift on Route 7 in Wilton from Allen’s Meadows to Olmstead Hill Road Scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2008

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that a traffic shift on Route 7 between Allen’s Meadows (in the vicinity of Wilton High School) to just north of Olmstead Hill Road, is scheduled to take place on Friday night, November 14, 2008, between 8:00pm and 6:00am.

Route 7 northbound and southbound traffic will be shifted from its current alignment to the newly constructed pavement on the west side of the road, to allow for work on the east side of the road. During the work to shift traffic on Route 7, Cannon Road will be closed between Pimpewaug Road and Route 7. Motorists needing to access Cannon Road will be detoured onto Pimpewaug Road.

Motorists should expect delays, due to alternating one-way traffic and intermittent traffic stoppages, while the work takes place.  It is anticipated that this traffic configuration will continue until the Spring of 2009.

The work is in association with the reconstruction project on Route 7 in Wilton that will accommodate two travel lanes, both northbound and southbound, for a length of approximately three miles from Wolfpit Road to Olmstead Hill Road.  The project is scheduled for completion in April 2010.

Please use caution when traveling through the construction work zone to ensure the safety of motorists and construction personnel.
