Traffic Shift on Route 33 (Ridgefield Road) in Wilton Scheduled For

October 23, 2008.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that that a traffic shift on Route 33 (Ridgefield Road), between Route 7 and Old Ridgefield Road, is scheduled to take place on Thursday night, October 23, 2008 between 8:00pm and 6:00am, weather permitting. 

Traffic will be shifted to the south side of the road, to allow for bridge and roadway work on the north side of the road.  The designated left turn lane from Route 33 to Center Street will be eliminated as a result of this shift.  One lane of travel in each direction will be maintained.  It is anticipated that this traffic configuration will remain in place for the next several months.

The work is in association with the reconstruction project on Route 7 in Wilton that will accommodate two travel lanes, both northbound and southbound, for a length of approximately three miles from Wolfpit Road to Olmstead Hill Road.  The project is scheduled for completion in April 2010.

Please use caution when traveling through the construction work zone to ensure the safety of motorists and construction personnel.
