Body of the Message: Newington, Connecticut – The Department of Transportation announced today, that beginning July 8, 2008, traffic in the eastbound direction of I-84 will be shifted to the left between exit 65 and 66 in Vernon.  Temporary line striping will be installed to make use of the left shoulder as a travel lane. Temporary precast concrete barrier curb will be installed adjacent to the left and right lanes to protect the work area. This work is part of the ongoing construction of an aluminum pipe arch tunnel over the Rails to Trails bikeway which replaces the highway bridges at that location.

Work on this $5.2 million project is being performed by Rotha Contracting Co. Inc. of Avon under contract with the Connecticut Department of Transportation.  The anticipated completion date of this project is November 30, 2008.

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and precede with caution through this and all other construction work zones.
