Newington, ConnecticutThe Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that road reconstructio has started on Connecticut Boulevard (Route 44) between Prospect and Ash Streets.

Paving will follow immediately thereafter, including paving of the newly reconstructed

Connecticut Boulevard bridge over the ramps to and from Governor Street in the Town

of East Hartford. 

On June 30, 2008, the contractor will start work on the reconstruction of a center island, road grading, milling, and paving on Connecticut Boulevard.  The hours of work will be 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, the exception being July 4th on which there will be no work on the project.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction using traffic control devices with the assistance of East Hartford Police Officers.

The contract was awarded to the Rotha Contracting Company of Avon, CT at a cost of $3,476,370 on December 29, 2006 and is scheduled to be completed in August 2008.    

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and precede with caution through this and all other construction work zones.
