The Department of Transportation announced today, that on March 19, 2008, work will resume on Vernon Avenue from the intersection of Rte. 30 (Hartford Turnpike) to South Street, in the Town of Vernon.  This work includes the full reconstruction and realignment of Vernon Avenue including the installation concrete sidewalk.

The contractor will maintain alternating one-way traffic operations during allowable periods.  No work that will interfere with traffic will be allowed between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. on weekdays, orduring weekends and holidays.  

                Dufford Construction Company, of Glastonbury is performing the work on this $2.2 million project under contract with the Department of Transportation.  The project is expected to be completed by July 31, 2008.
