Hartford, Connecticut – The Department of Transportation announced today, that beginning Monday, September 22, 2008, nighttime illumination replacement and associated electrical work is scheduled to begin on I- 84 in the vicinity of the Platform in Hartford.  The work affects nighttime traffic between Prospect Street to the West and the I-91 ramps to the East. 

The work will involve replacement of existing luminaries in the underpass and the replacement of the existing lighting conduit between Laurel Street and Asylum Street. This nighttime work is scheduled to be completed by March 07, 2009.

During this period, traffic may be reduced to a single lane in each direction on I-84, between the hours of 10:00 pm and 6:00 am weeknights.

Work on this $3.4 million project is being performed by Ducci Electrical Contractors of Torrington, Connecticut under contract with the Connecticut Department of Transportation.  The anticipated completion date of this project is April 2009.

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and proceed with caution through this and all other construction work zones.
