The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction work is scheduled to begin on September 8, 2008 for the drainage improvements on RT 6 @ RT 69 in the city of Bristol.   The contract was awarded to VMS Construction Co. of Vernon, Connecticut at an estimated cost of $5,637,363.00.  Construction is scheduled to be completed on August 25, 2010.   

The project will include the installation of box culverts and various other drainage structures to improve drainage from Federal St. to Oakland St. on Rt. 6 and the intersection of Rt. 69 and Maple St. Traffic signals will also be installed @ Rt. 6 at North Main St. @ Rt. 69 @ Rustic Terrace & Bristol Commons @ Oakland St. & Lewis St.

The Contractor will not be permitted to perform any work that will interfere with the existing number of lanes of traffic, including all existing turning lanes.

Monday through Friday between 5:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Construction signs will be utilized for traffic control.

Motorists are advised to reduce their speed accordingly through the work zone.
