The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that work for the intersection improvements at Route 114 and Route 34 in Orange have begun.

The contract was awarded to Complete Construction Company of Ansonia, CT on June 26, 2008, at a cost of $1,094,626.00 and is scheduled to be completed by April 03, 2010. 

Tree removal to facilitate widening has been completed along with construction staking to define the project limits.  The contractor, plans on beginning reconstruction to build turning lanes on Route 114 within the upcoming week.  Utility relocations required for the new turning lane will be starting also.

                  

                   The project consists of adding left turn lanes to the Route 114 northbound and southbound approaches to Route 34. Also, the State will be milling and paving approximately 1200 feet of Route 114 in this area.  A new traffic signal at the Intersection of Route 114 and Route 34 will also be installed. 

Motorists can plan on lane closures during the day between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The contractor will also be allowed to halt traffic up to ten minutes for overhead work.  Paving will occur during the nighttime hours.

Please use caution when traveling through the construction work zone
