Town of Somers, Connecticut

Route 83

Realignment of Route 83 and Parker Road

And Intersection Improvements at Route 190 and Gulf Road

Somers, CT - The Department of Transportation announced today, that beginning August 28,  2007, in conjunction with Project No.129 -110, Route 83 (in the vicinity of Parker Road ) will be closed to through traffic for approximately two days ( August 28 and 29) for work associated with the installation of  Corrugated Aluminum Pipe ( 8’ diameter) across Route 83 North of Parker Road.  The work is anticipated to be completed by Wednesday, August 29, 2007.  Ralph Camputaro and Son Excavating, Inc. of North Branford, CT will be performing this work. 

Traffic Notice:

Detour        

  • Route 83 (in the vicinity of Parker Road) will be closed to through traffic for approximately two days (August 28 and 29).
  • The road will be open to local traffic only and the access to the businesses in the vicinity of the project will be maintained. 
  • A detour route will be utilized for re-routing all traffic through Billings Road and Field Road. Detour signs will be installed to guide the traveling public.

Construction signs, traffic cones, and traffic drums will be utilized for traffic control.  

Motorists should use caution through the work zone and reduce their speed accordingly.
