NEWINGTON, Conn.- State Transportation Commissioner Ralph J. Carpenter announced today that a Milling and Resurfacing project will be performed on Route 81 and (Christian Hill Rd. over Route 9), in Haddam.  This project is scheduled to begin on or about Wednesday, August 1, 2007 and continue through Friday, August 10, 2007.                                              

This project will take place on a 2-mile section of Route 81 from the Route 9 southbound underpass to Route 154. There will be no on-street parking allowed in Higganum center for the duration of this project.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.  The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Monday - Friday).  No work will be performed on Saturday or Sunday. 

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work area.
