Due to the ongoing construction project that is under way on King Street in Greenwich, CT, just south of Sherwood Avenue, the Greenwich Police Department and the Department of Public Works are recommending an alternate route for AUTOMOBILES ONLY traveling the King Street corridor. TRUCK TRAFFIC MUST remain on King Street.  This alternate route is recommended between the hours of 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM Monday through Friday while the work is actively being done on King Street.  After these work hours, King Street is returned to normal traffic flow

Drivers wanting to travel southbound on King Street from the I-684 area should use Bedford Road to John Street to Riversville Road (South) to Glenville Road (Glenville Center) to Glenville Street back to King Street.

Drivers wanting to travel northbound on King Street from the Merritt Parkway should utilize Glen Ridge Road to Riversville Road to John Street to Bedford Road back to King Street.

Automobiles can also use Sherwood Avenue to Riversville Road to circumvent the King Street construction.

The construction project will continue through October and will necessitate the closure of one lane of traffic, thereby only offering one lane for alternating northbound and southbound travel.   Police Officers and flagmen are in the roadway to facilitate and direct traffic to expedite travel through the construction zone.
