EMERGENCY WORK TO BEGIN
Interstate 95 over Housatonic River

Exit 33 to 34, Towns of Stratford / Milford
Newington, CT— The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that construction activity is ready to begin on the Moses Wheeler Bridge on I-95 between Stratford and Milford.   Because of the July 4th holiday, the contractor, Middlesex Corporation, will only be working the nights of Monday, July 2 and Friday, July 6th. Starting Monday July 9, 2007 work will commence nightly in the northbound and southbound directions of the highway between Exits 33 and 34.  The allowable hours of work are:
Monday-Thursday Lane closures beginning at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day
Friday Northbound beginning at 10 p.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday 
Southbound beginning at 9 p.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday
Saturday Lane closures beginning at 9 pm until 10 a.m. Sunday 
Sunday Northbound beginning at 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday
Southbound beginning at 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday
 
                                                                     
The work will require the closing of two of the three lanes in each direction during the overnight hours. To avoid travel delays through the area please plan ahead and consider alternate routes to get to your destination.   
All vehicles including trucks may use Routes 25 and 8, Route 9, I-91, I-691, I-84 and I- 684 in New York. Permitted oversize/overweight vehicles must follow planned route.
Non-restricted vehicles that are registered as passenger, camper, taxi, vanpool or combination vehicles may also use Route 15 (Merritt and Wilbur Cross Parkways).

Obey the posted speed limit and allow for extra travel time
