NEWINGTON, Conn. - State Transportation Commissioner Ralph J. Carpenter announced today that a Bridge Maintenance project will be performed on Route 1 (Tomlinson Drawbridge) in New Haven.  This project is scheduled to take place on or about Tuesday, October 30, 2007 and continue through Thursday, November 1, 2007.  The bridge will be closed while the work is being performed and a posted detour will be in effect. 

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the detour.  The regular work schedule for this project is 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Tuesday - Thursday).   

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work area.
