ROUTE 7 WILTON reconstruction and widening Project

upcoming work schedule beginning September 25, 2006

Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner Ralph J. Carpenter announces the schedule of work for the reconstruction and widening of U.S. Route 7 from Wolfpit Road to Olmstead Hill Road in the town of Wilton beginning September 25, 2006.

Work Activity Schedule:

Beginning Monday, September 25, 2006, the Contractor, Tilcon CT will begin cutting trees and undergrowth on the west side of Route 7 from School Road to the Wilton Train Station.  A walk thru occurred with Department representatives specializing in Environmental Protection, landscaping and construction along with the Town of Wilton’s Tree Warden, Town Engineer and Director of Environmental Affairs to identify the limits of the removal.

This work will be performed off the travel way, but construction vehicles will be entering and exiting Route 7 with the assistance of the Wilton Police for traffic control.  Following the tree and brush removal, environmental erosion and sedimentation controls will be installed.  In the upcoming weeks this process will be repeated along Route 7 in Wilton at various locations.

Utility relocations are continuing during the daytime hours to supplement and facilitate the construction activities for the widening and reconstruction of Route 7.
