DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

DETOUR FOR PERRY HILL ROAD PROJECT BEGINS

Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner Stephen E. Korta II announced that the construction contractor, Guerrera Constuction Co. Inc. of Oxford, CT, for Project Number 126-156, which will rebuild the roadway, will begin work on or about Wednesday, April 26, 2006.

Utility relocations that have been ongoing for the last two weeks will continue. Perry Hill Road will be  open to local traffic only for approximately twelve months. Traffic that is not local will be detoured around the work zone.

During construction the Contractor will maintain one lane of traffic with an alternating one-way pattern. Traffic will be assisted during this period by trafficmen. At the completion of the workday, the Contractor shall restore travel to one lane in each direction.

The Contractor will not be allowed to perform any work that will interfere with one lane of traffic in each direction on Monday through Friday between 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Saturday and Sunday at all times.

The construction duration is expected to last through next MAY (304 calendar days) and the contract value is approximately $1.9 million.
