Reconstruction of Route 7 Danbury and Ridgefield

Scheduled to begin the week of July 11, 2005

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has awarded a $17 million dollar project to Tilcon, CT Inc. of New Britain, CT for the reconstruction of Route 7 in the towns of Danbury and Ridgefield between Route 35 and Starrs Plain Road.

The project is part of a series of planned projects to improve safety and traffic flow along the Route 7 corridor.  The Danbury/Ridgefield project will provide a number of important enhancements to this heavily traveled corridor including:

Improved traffic flow with the widening of Route 7 to provide two travel lanes in each direction

Drainage improvements and new traffic signals.

Realignment of Bennett’s Farm Road, West Starrs Plain Road and Starrs Plain Road

Lane closures can be expected during the following times:

           Monday thru Friday - 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and  6 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Saturdays and Sundays – NO closures allowed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day

For the first few weeks, construction activity within the roadway will be minimal with lane closures mostly involving shoulder areas.

Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through construction work zones and allow for extra travel time.   For additional information on this project or other Connecticut Department of Transportation construction projects in Fairfield County, visit www.metropool.com  or call MetroPool at 1-800-346-3743.
