Today 12/15/10 at 2:51 p.m. Glastonbury Police initiated a criminal investigation into a larceny from the Home Depot Store in Glastonbury. Investigators broadcast a description of two female suspects who were believed to be in the area.
A Glastonbury officer observed a possible suspect. As he approached, the female suspect entered a waiting car. The car attempted to flee and in doing so struck a civilian car and also struck a Glastonbury police vehicle.
The operator of the vehicle, while attempting to flee, directed his car at the Glastonbury Officer who was forced to discharge his service weapon at the suspect car. The driver fled on foot a short distance and was detained by responding police officers. The female was taken into custody at the scene by responding Glastonbury police officers without incident. She was charged by Glastonbury police.
The driver sustained a minor hand wound, was treated at the scene and transported to Hartford Hospital where he was treated and released into State Police custody. The accused male was transported to Troop H Hartford where he was processed. He is being held on bond to appear in Superior Court GA#12 Manchester.
The Officer involved in this incident is identified as Officer Matthew Geddes a 3 year veteran of the Department. Geddes has been assigned to temporary administrative duty as is department policy.
The State Police will investigate both car accidents and the police shooting incident. The investigation is continuing.
ARRESTED: HOUGH, Thermas DOB: 7/25/88
LKA 221 White St Hartford,Ct.
CHARGES: Reckless Endangerment 1st, Criminal Mischief 1st, Reckless Driving, Evading Responsibility and Operating without a license. Additional charges are anticipated.
The accused is being held on a $100,000.00 bond. He will be arraigned in Manchester Superior Court on 12/15/10.
