State Police Investigate Larceny in Mansfield Library

On 7/2/2009, a librarian at the Mansfield Library reported to Troop C that her wallet had been taken sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and that several fraudulent charges were made before she was able to cancel the card.  The wallet was taken from her purse which was unsecured beneath her desk.  In conducting this investigation, it was discovered that two wallets were taken at approximately 4:30 pm on the same day from the break room of a hair salon in Mansfield.

Witnesses described the suspects as two black females who got into a dark colored sedan with out of state plates being driven by a black male. The females are described as:

Female 1:  approximately 5'1", 110-120 lbs., slim build, with shoulder-length dark hair and a prominent forehead.

Female 2:  approximately 5'6", 160 lbs, heavier build, with very short dark hair

In recent surveillance these females were getting into a grey/blue Chevy Impala with Pennsylvania plates.

In several other active cases, being investigated by surrounding towns, wallets were taken from unsecured pocketbooks in doctors’ offices, as well as in libraries.  These females use the stolen credit cards to purchase gift cards in large amounts from local pharmacies and supermarkets.  Anyone with information or similar cases should contact Tpr. Tassinari at Troop C.  860-896-3200.
