                                                            2007-08

                                     NEW YEARS ENFORCEMENT PROJECT

   The Connecticut State Police New Year's enforcement operation produced the following stats. The additional patrol Troopers were assigned to supplement the normal patrol force for the New Year holiday. The 2007-08 Holiday enforcement period was a four-day enforcement weekend, one day longer this year than last year due to the 2008 Holiday falling on a Tuesday.

   The following are the current enforcement totals for this 2007-08 project, frommidnight 12/29/07 to 01/01/08 at midnight:

Total Accidents---297

        with injury—39

DUI Arrests -- 61 

Speeding arrests --- 808

Seatbelt Arrests — 136

Hazardous Moving Arrests — 855

   Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution as we begin the 2008 New years.
